Also this year GSP Europe refrains from giving presents. Instead, we support people who are innocently in need. Our donation goes to the Fördergemeinschaft Deutsche Kinderherzzentren e.V. and especially to Ukrainian children with heart disease.

Ukraine: Children with heart disease get help

The association kinderherzen e.V. has been active for over 30 years and is financed 100 percent by donations. The help knows no borders: For more than 20 years, kinderherzen has been providing comprehensive support for children with congenital heart defects and their families in Germany as well as humanitarian emergency aid for children with heart disease in and from war and crisis zones worldwide. 

In 2022, the association established an aid fund for Ukrainian children with congenital heart defects. Children with heart disease receive support for treatment from the German association. This is intended to provide fast and unbureaucratic help to girls and boys from Ukraine who are affected by the war and suffer from heart disease. Their treatment is impossible due to the war in their own country.

Especially children with heart disease suffer from the consequences of the war in Ukraine. Heart surgery in Kiev, for example, is now only possible under difficult conditions, and operations already planned for children are increasingly being postponed for an indefinite time. kinderherzen is increasingly receiving requests for help from desperate families from the embattled areas of Ukraine. It is often uncertain whether they will make it to one of the neighboring countries for the vital heart surgery. When they arrive, they find overcrowded children's hospitals with supply shortages.

There are about 45,000 children living with a heart defect in Ukraine. And every day, another 15 children with a congenital heart defect are born there. kinderherzen sees it as its task to help these heart children with its expertise. The aid fund that has been set up is the first effective and uncomplicated measure.
